Jaclyn Heikkila

Jaclyn has been with Friends of the Rouge since May 2018 contemporaneously earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University. She grew up in, currently lives in Metro Detroit, and calls the Rouge River her home watershed. Jaclyn loves her work at Friends of the Rouge leading cleanups, bug hunts, and rain garden plantings across Southeast Michigan.

Connecting with community volunteers and making a meaningful impact is what drives her work. Jaclyn has a passion for protecting the environment and loves to get youth involved learning about how they can be Environmental Stewards and better our landscapes for the health of people and wildlife. In her free time, she and her partner always try to pick up trash on their daily walks and live the motto ‘leave it better than you found it’.
